The Art Studio Eleven offers small-group studio sessions designed to help artists build skill, strengthen observation, explore new ideas, and develop creative discipline over time. These sessions emphasize guided practice in a focused studio environment rather than large-format instruction.

Sessions are limited to 5–10 participants to support a more personal, attentive experience.

Group Session Schedule

  • Saturdays 10AM-1PM, instructor Thadius Taylor

Learn how to draw from observation with accurate proportions and simple construction. This session guides you in developing core habits such as measuring, enveloping, and rendering light and shadow. These foundational skills form a strong base for more complex observational challenges as your work progresses.

  • Mondays 5PM-8PM, instructor Dan Nguyen

Learn oil painting through a structured process designed to make colors and values easier to manage. You’ll practice creating value studies and working with a limited palette while painting approachable subjects such as still-life, plaster casts, and master copies. The session emphasizes blocking in light and shadow masses, and modeling forms. Ideal for students who want to get comfortable with oil painting.

  • Sundays 10AM-1PM, instructor Dan Nguyen

In this session, you will create your own paintings based on subjects of your choice. Students may explore figurative work, portraiture, or landscape with guidance from instructor Nguyen. Throughout the session, you will strengthen your understanding of composition, visual hierarchy, and light logic, helping you produce artworks with a greater sense of depth.

    Open to all Levels

  • Sundays 2PM-5PM, instructor Dan Nguyen

Develop a practical portrait drawing and painting process grounded in accurate likeness and structural clarity. Students begin by studying head construction, then instructor Nguyen guides them through mixing flesh tones and rendering facial features with confidence. Throughout the session, emphasis is placed on light logic, edge quality, detail, and refinement as students work toward fully developed portraits. Designed for artists who want to strengthen their portrait skills.

    Open to all Levels

  • Wednesdays 5PM-8PM, instructor Thadius Taylor

Explore a variety of mediums such as gouache, acrylic, oil, and watercolor while building essential studio skills like stretching canvas and priming painting surfaces. Instructor Taylor will also guide you through collage painting approaches and printmaking techniques. This is created for artists who want to step outside their comfort zone and embrace experimentation and play.

    Open to all Levels

  • Saturdays 2PM-5PM, instructor Thadius Taylor

Turn your practice into a focused body of work that demonstrates skill, taste, and authenticity. You’ll receive guidance on planning new work, selecting and manipulating references, and creating cohesion across an art series. This is ideal for artists who want to sell their work and are seeking structure and accountability.
